The Egg and I
My first completely wordless single-panel strip! Not much in terms of a gag, but it carries the story somewhat, so I’m rolling with it.

Heck, I would chase the egg! I swear that’s not a drug analogy! 🙂
Like Dawn Griffin says, if that was a Cadbury egg, I’m sure we’d ALL be chasing it!
…and the story rolls on… 🙂
Rollin’, rollin’, rollin’, keep them dinos rollin’…
Now I have Adeles’ Rolling in the Deep in my head.
I think an Adele soundtrack would be perfect for the Gorraceous Age.
It’s all down from here.
You’re right, Brian. As a matter of fact, it goes even more downhill!
Keep on rollin’ and Gorr will keep on chasin’!
For every giant egg, there’s a proto-Gorr ready to chase it!
Since I’ve praised your design skills over and over, I should mention what’s probably the more important aspect of this strip: You have really created your own universe, here. This is some wild, highly imaginative stuff (insert Johnny Carson impression here). Your character designs are so unique, too. Complexly simplistic. How do you do that?
First I’d like to say I sincerely appreciate these words, Stephen. You have the mindset, high caliber humor and cartooning chops to produce your strip and keep the quality level at maximum, so I take your words quite seriously. The only answer I can give you is that with this strip I’ve found an outlet to combine all my past art and design experience, stand-up comedy, comedy writing, and acting into one laser beam focus. Comic strip cartooning is a joy, but it demands a lot from the cartoonist, the drawing part just one aspect of the total experience.
Cartoonists put so much of themselves into everything they create, whether the characters are floating in space or trampling around in some primordial swamp, the artist is right there in every line. That is the joy and the agony of it, because many times what I’ve drawn doesn’t come anywhere near what I saw in my imagination (most artists can sympathize I’m sure). I try to enjoy the process, and not worry too much about the end result. If I’m having fun, hopefully it comes through.
That egg is HUGE! I hope it doesn’t hatch! Look OUT!
That there is one big, tough egg!
Nice one, Mark! Can’t wait to see what’s down the hill!
Thanks, Marieke. I’ve got some fun stuff coming up, I hope you like it!
They better pick up the pace!
You’re right! That big bird’s got a lot more traction!
Ha! It’s the first Egg Roll!
Whatever’s in that egg is gonna hatch all dizzy!
A rolling egg gathers no moss?!?
It doesn’t gather any moss, but it sure gathers chasers!
Makes me think of van halens “Running With The Devil” when I see Gorr [that little devil] and his entourage on the run! [grin]
oooh, yeah
(ahh!) runnin’ with the devil (ahh-hah! yeah!)
(woo-hoo-oo!) runnin’ with the devil
You know I found the simple life, weren’t so simple.
When I jumped out on that road!
Looks like Gorr’acious is eggin’ that ol’ bird on! :`D
Well at least we know which came first….the egg!
It’s the great chase! Mark, I really would love to see Zombie Boy republished!
Thanks Jenn, I appreciate that. I would love to republish, we’ll just have to see…
Run Gorr! Run!
Cave boy is running away from danger, Gorr is running towards it. I guess that about sums it up.
I bet that bird can deliver one heck of a peck. Lovin’ these prehistoric strips Mark.
I appreciate that Tony. I’m having fun, and I’m glad you’re enjoying them too.
You gotta chase the egg just to see where it’s headed. 🙂
Egg-chasing is the Main Event, George!
I would love to make an egg Mcmuffin out of that.
Whoa, that would be a breakfast for the aeons!
Mmmmm…diatryma. The drumsticks alone will make enough sandwiches to last a week!
And can you imagine the size of that wishbone?
Great pay off
I had fun drawing the momentum in that panel. Thanks!
It’d be interesting to see what comes out of that egg
Keep reading, Dr.!
Great colors and funny drawing! I really like this masthead too 🙂
Thanks Leroy! I’m glad you like it. Can’t wait to get my Icecubes: The Book!
