I got this idea from all the lonely pumpkins I see sitting on porches in my neighborhood. I thought there ought to be more you can do with them now that Halloween is over.
That would be so much fun if my pumpkins weren’t already so soft and moldy from lying in the grass for over a month. Maybe I’ll let ’em stay until New Year’s! 🙂
I know a guy who was actually a professional bowler, but said that unless you’re the top dog you can’t make any money because the tournaments are corrupt. Maybe he should try the pumpkin league.
They work in pretty much any sport that involves a projectile: Discus, skeet shooting, tee ball, Big Game Hunting…
Pumpkins are a perfect projectile. Round, orange, and so much fun when they splat!
There’s never a shortage of uses for hollow pumpkins
Not recommended for use as a safety helmet, but useful in many other ways.
They will provide head padding for a brief moment until they break open. A momentary safety helmet is surely better than none at all
That could make for a wacky and confusing sport. Which ones are the pins and which pumpkin is the ball? 🙂
I say just roll with it.
That’s my kind of recycling! 🙂
Go green. And orange.
The art of the silent comic never gets old. Beautifully done.
Thanks J.P., they are a challenge but I love to do ’em!
After Halloween what else is there to do? 😉
The end of the vine.
Now thats a great way to reuse your pumpkins! I vote YES on pumpkin bowling! [grin]
Better than just letting them shrivel up on your porch.
Stokes Strikes again!
The first one was a gutter strip.
They make for good squirrel food… our resident squirrel chewed the heck out of our pumpkin!
Carved pumpkins must be like bounce houses for squirrels.
If you’ll excuse me, I’ll just be in the backyard…setting up pumpkins.
And they already have the finger holes cut out for you!
That looks like so much fun! 😀

I love the colors!! Another funny ZB…..strike. 2 more and it’s a turkey (or a Mark Stokes) hahah 🙂
Francesca, I’m already a gobbler. Put some pizza in front of me and you’ll see what I mean! Thanks for nice compliment, glad you enjoyed it.
What a fantastic way to get rid of all those left over Jack-o-lanterns! :`D Fun!
Everyone thinks so but the pumpkins!
Time to smash em up anyway
Somebody’s gonna do it, might as well be ZB!
I always just made pie with them!
Pumpkin pie is the perfect snack for pumpkin bowling!

They splat better when they’ve aged!
That’s a Gourd-geous comic!
Thanks, Jack!
Strike!
You really have mastered the art of pumpkin. I love the terrifying expression on the pumpkins.
I’m glad you noticed, Hjortur, I thought a little emoting would help the scene.
That’s got to be the mushiest way of bowling!
The mushier the better!
What a great way to end the Halloween season.
Goodbye Halloween! See ya next year!
Am I the only one who imagines a sound effect.
I saw pumpkin parts flying, but didn’t have a particular sound effect in mind. What do you think it would sound like?
Ba-kow! (the sounds of bowling pins, but squishier)
Ok, now that sound effect is forever ingrained in that final panel. I’ll heart it every time I see this strip, lol. Thanks, Michael!
Strike! Those pumpkins aren’t feeling it.
Their porch life is over anyway…

Are you saying there’s some Ten-Pinola involved? I like the “Pumpkin League,” very clever!
