His 15 Minutes Are Up
If I never see one of those car insurance commercials again, I’ll be perfectly happy. You know the ones with the little animated lizard who goes on and on about how a few minutes could save you blah, blah, blah. It’s like if you’re going to buy insurance, it’s got to be from an animated character or no one takes it serious. I imagine the creative team who came up with this long-worn-out concept hope that eventually the character will become part of the lexicon of American culture, right alongside Santa Claus, and the Easter Bunny. And if not, don’t worry, they’ll run it another 30 or 40 years until it finally does.
I keep hoping that little lizard will get smooshed in a door frame or accidentally stepped on, or, if the fates could be so kind, run over by a lawnmower. This strip was a bit cathargic really, I got some of that out of my system.
At least the Gecko wasn’t singing “Up on the rooftop, quick quick quick” every ten minutes! Personally, I want to see a caveman smash the bloody little creature with a club, while the “Can Geiflap really save you…” guy watches on with Abe Lincoln and a couple of woodchucks!
That would be the best television commercial, ever!
Before I left the UK, this ad was played constantly on TV and probably still is.

If you could draw a spider big enough to devower this singer, the people of Great Britain would be very grateful.
You know Marie-Paule, I just might do that! Thanks for sharing. I watched the vid and I can see why you’d like some sort of thousand deaths for that guy, lol! And thanks for coming by to visit, and leaving a comment!
Now there is a squeeling (sp) little pig that would make some good bacon and ham sandwiches.
Too bad he’s only a bite full.
{dreamy sigh} I love this one.
Thanks, Liz! I only wish I could have added a soundtrack to this one!
