The Original Leaf Bandit at Work
As you may or may not know, Gorr is based on my own sweet pug, Pooj. I recently got some shots of him doing his leaf thing and I wanted to share them with you. Pooj loves to sniff, he will follow a scent no matter how far under the leaves he has to go. He roots around and sounds exactly like a pig with all his huffing and snorting. This is the exact behavior that inspired the Leaf Bandit, to give you an idea of how sometimes life imitates art imitates life.
I approve. Are you familiar with the webcomic “BattlePug”? I think you would like it 😀
I miss seeing autumn like that. The leaves up here in Alaska go from green to gone in about 2-3 weeks
“Green to gone” lol. That’s a very great expression, Llama. I can almost picture that in my mind! Autumn is like the leaves are making one last bid for colorful glory before they fade away. My fave time of year!
I can just hear “snort snort snort snort” in this pic.
Add a “Snoof” and a “Snrff” and a “Urrrnt, urrrnt, urrrnt” and you’ve got the whole soundtrack, Michael!
But does he rake too?
You sure do ask a lot from cartoon dogs!
What a great dog !!!
The half you can’t see is great, too!
That is too cute!
I just can’t make some of this stuff up, Bill!
Awesome! I haven’t seen the real-life Gorr. This looks like a scene straight out of your strip. Pooj looks great.
It’s good to surround yourself with comedy masters, like my little pug. He’s written quite a few of my strips!
Fantastic! the real Gorr! 🙂
Write who you know…
I can sure see Gorr similarities in Poo Mark, even his body shape is similar. Although I must admit that I normally don’t pay that much attention to poo. Great photo of Poo having fun.
Just to clarify, it’s Pooj, with a “j”. I get a lot of the physical properties of Gorr from him, especially the “lying on his back with his tongue hanging out” pose. Glad you like the photo, Tony!
Oh sorry Mark & Pooj. That’s the problem with my bad eyes I missed the J
It’s ok. He’s not much for words, as long as you bring a treat.
The Art of War? More like The Art of Gorr!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I had to say it.
You are correct to say it with such Gorr-like gusto!
Awwweeee [smiffle]
As a fellow pug ownee, I’m sure you can sympathize!
OH. MY. GOD. A PUG!? GORR IS BASED OFF A PUG!? I LOVE GORR LIKE NOBODY’S BUSINESS! GORR IS MY HERO!
Very loosely based physically, but definitely based personality-wise, Jack. Pugs are natural clowns, not only from their funny faces, but also their funny ways. I’m guessing you have had some good pug experiences?
My hero! 🙂
The Yard Knight Returns!
Those leaves don’t stand a chance!
Millions of leaves, and only ONE Leaf Bandit? You may be right!
That is adorable!
Thanks, Will! Nice to hear from ya!
