Back in my college days, I had the great fortune to have taken a cartooning class taught by the great Jerry Bittle, creator of the comic strips, Geech and Shirley and Son. 
Jerry had a spontaneous approach to teaching, a dry wit, and he was quick with the quips.
I remember visiting his home studio and being amazed to be standing in the workplace of a real, working comic strip artist. I always had an appreciation for strip artists, never imagining that I would head that way myself. Re-reading Jerry’s Geech strips is like spending a little time with Jerry himself and I have even more appreciation for his talent now than I did when I was his student.
I just finished my 100th strip today. You won’t see them all until four months from now because I’m working ahead. One hundred strips at three times a week is 8 months worth, but for a six-times-a-week daily cartoonist, that’s only just over four months of strips! These guys are truly gladiators cranking that stuff out day after day! Don’t ever think that being a daily cartoonist is an easy job, cause it’s not just coming up with the ideas, and trying to be witty, then you have to actually produce them, and then there’s your big Sunday strip, which is like two dailies combined! All that work for 15 seconds of your attention. My hat’s off to those guys!
I’d like to introduce you to the inspiration behind Zombie Boy’s best friend, Gorr. Meet my eight-year old pug, Pooj, or as I affectionately call Sir Stinkalot, a huffing, snuffing, snorting bundle of unabashed unconditional love. He’s been with me since he was eight weeks old, and I can’t imagine my life without him.
So what if walking more than a block and a half leaves him gasping like a fish out of water, so what if he gets more drinking water on the floor and on his chin than in his mouth, so what if he snores louder than a middle-aged, 350 lb. truck driver… I feel blessed to share my life with this fuzzy, smelly creature because the pay-off is astronomical.

And to throw more wood on the stake, I’ll be introducing another Wurmhol family member in the next few weeks, namely Claustria’s niece, Solstice. I’ve already got several strips in the works featuring this little witch, which I’ll be posting in the next few weeks.
