Something a little different.
A true woman at heart.
If you hold a shoe up to your ear, I’m pretty sure you won’t hear the ocean!
I love ZB in the background in panel one! This one was great! I actually thought the twitter link took me to the wrong page for a sec. Ha!
I thought I would “stir the waters a bit with something different. This was an follow up joke to this strip.
I was surprised she didn’t hear sole music.
And very far away in the background a rim shot!
Ah, the sweet sound of littering… 8)
I wonder what an empty water bottle would have sounded like?
I can hear a 14 year old crying because they don’t have the shorts that say “Juicy”!
You’ve got mighty accurate hearing, Michael!
You can go to the sea when you hear it call, but how do you get fish to a mall?!? [grin]
Sounds like the Rime of the Jynksie Mariner!
I wonder if she hears a sale?
That would be some mighty fine hearing, if so!
I also like ZB’s ‘cameo’!
I thought I’d be disappointing someone if I didn’t have at least one reference to the strip in there!
The coloring makes me very happy. I have a shoe like that, but if you hold mine to your ear you can hear old Bonanza radio shows.
Is that what they mean when the say “slap leather”? Thanks for coming by and your nice comments, Shawn!
Sole music, that’s funny!
You sure have a knack for giving me instant giggles, Mark!
Happy to hear that, Warren, the world needs more giggles! Thanks for the nice compliment!
I love this Mark!
Thanks, David! And Happy Second Anniversary of Don’t Pick the Flowers!
Hmmm… That is a little different. I wonder if they can hear the sound of stinky socks. It took me a while but then I noticed ZB in the background.
I’m just glad comics are a visual medium. I’d hate to smell some comic strips!
….but I smell a teenager
That’s teen spirit you’re smelling, Bearman!
Truely masterful and clever with the last panel! Even with the other friends in the first panel underwater, nice!
Thanks, Miguel! I wrote this at the same time I did the “hear the ocean” strip but I stalled on drawing it because I didn’t think it would fit in with my regular strips. Adding ZB in the background was the deal breaker.
It’s a good thing fish can’t smell.
It probably smells as bad as Davy Jones’ sneaker.
Good thing that you probably can’t smell the shoe.
Believe it or not fish can smell. It’s just fortunate that this one is having sinus problems today, and can’t smell that stinky shoe anyway.
Nice action in the background too.
Glad you like it, Mike. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Mom looks she’s ready to make that trip to the mall.
I love and respect how innovative your mind is, Mark. You seem to get yuor inspiration from any and everywhere.
Thanks so much, George. You never know where a joke will come from. This gag was written at the same time as a previous strip, but I held it back because it wasn’t character driven, and thought it probably wouldn’t fit into the continuity. I’m glad I did it though, it was fun to draw.
I’ve always wondered what that sound was.
I wonder what a marching band shoe would sound like?
Well played! Now I want to try the shoe underwater thing and see what it does sound like… At the very least, I’m sure I’ll get some looks.
Mostly from the fish…
I love this page, Stokes. (I’m sticking with the last name thing. Mostly because you have a good last name, but also because you responded with “Hatch”.)
You’re quite clever.
I find Hatch quite good last name too, actually, and Andrea is a perfectly fine first name, as well. I’m very glad you like the strip and am most appreciative of your comment!
Does that only work underwater?
It might be only a fish thing.
Haha, such a great joke.
Thanks, Lee! Sand sculptures just seem to be begging for trouble, don’t you think?
